MYSORE STYLE PRACTICE

A personal practice, supported.

Mysore-style practice is the heart of Yoga Commons. A quiet, self-paced approach where you learn the practice one step at a time with individualized guidance from your teacher.

At Yoga Commons, we offer Ashtanga Mysore and Dharma Yoga Mysore throughout the week, making our studio one of the only places in the region where both lineages are taught in this traditional format.

Whether you're new to Mysore or already have an established practice, this space is designed to support steady, personal growth.

WHAT IS MYSORE?

Mysore is a method of teaching yoga where students move at their own pace through a sequence — rather than following a led class. Your teacher gives you one-on-one guidance, adjustments, and new postures as you’re ready, allowing you to build a personal practice that grows naturally over time.

It’s quiet, meditative, and deeply focused — a completely different experience from a typical group class.

WHY PRACTICE MYSORE?

Personalized attention
You receive individualized guidance every time you attend.

Progress at your own pace
You learn the sequences step-by-step, with no pressure to keep up with a room.

Build consistency and confidence
Even practicing a short sequence regularly leads to meaningful transformation.

Perfect for all levels
Beginners learn the foundations slowly and safely.
Experienced practitioners deepen their concentration, breath, and technique.

A supportive community
The Mysore room is quiet and focused, but also warm, encouraging, and deeply connected.

WHO MYSORE IS FOR

Mysore is for anyone who wants a steady, personal, and sustainable yoga practice. It’s an ideal place for beginners who want to learn slowly and safely, experienced practitioners who want individualized guidance, students seeking deeper breath, focus, and concentration, and anyone who prefers a quiet, meditative room over a fast-paced class.

Whether you’re new or seasoned, Mysore meets you exactly where you are and supports you as your practice evolves. Everyone is welcome.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In Mysore, you’ll arrive anytime within the practice window and settle into your breath and movement at your own pace. Your teacher will greet you, guide you into your personal sequence, and offer hands-on adjustments and individualized support throughout your practice.

Beginners often start with a short sequence, while experienced students may practice longer; either way, your practice naturally unfolds over time. The room is quiet and focused, and you’re welcome to practice for as little as 20 minutes or for the full window, depending on your needs that day.
